JOHANSSONS PELARGONER OCH DANS

Johanssons Pelargoner och Dans is a performing arts group and a production platform with over 12 years experience of creating and touring performances for children and young people. They create participatory performances where the audience is involved physically and where the focus lies on the bodily experience of those who participate. THE CHOREOGRAPHY

THE CHOREOGRAPHY is a performance filled with galloping horses, confetti, bold movements, imaginary hamsters, and dance. The piece explores the world through movement and examines how the way we move can affect what we think, see and feel.

THE CHOREOGRAPHY is a participatory performance based entirely on the audience’s participation. All participants receive a pair of headphones, and a guiding voice gives them instructions on how to relate to one’s body and to one another. In other words, there are no dancers in the performance. Instead, the members of the audience create THE CHOREOGRAPHY together.

THE CHOREOGRAPHY is available in 18 languages. Each audience member anonymously chooses which language they want to listen to. Regardless of language, everyone can participate together and listen to the same instructions.

Available in the following languages in 2023: Arabic, Dari, English, Finnish, German, Kurdish (Sorani), Meänkieli, Northern Sami, Norweigan, Pashto, Persian, Romani (Arli), Russian, Somali, Southern Sami, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish.

I'M THINKING OF YOU

I’M THINKING OF YOU lets you discover or rediscover the library as a place. As a  participant, you are invited to follow instructions through headphones, and interact with the library environment in both expected and unexpected ways.

With a touch of magical realism, you will experience sneak choreography, censorship and get a glimpse of thousands of years of books’ history. You will be given the opportunity to perform secret acts of resistance and discover secret messages right in the middle of a public space. I’M THINKING OF YOU offers a playful opportunity to look at one of our most important public spaces with new eyes, and a chance to make the library your own.

I’M THINKING OF YOU is played as both a public and a school performance, from 10 years old. A shorter version will be available for individual lending for a five-year period at the various libraries participating in the project.

MEDELGYMPA

Gympa [jym`pa] is a Swedish form of group aerobic training.

Medelgympa is your all-around fitness and art experience. We exercise to very traditional gympa music, and it can get sweaty if you want it to. Bring your metaphorical machete out. Touch down to the sound of creaking wood. Allow your body to turn into a marshmallow in a cup of hot cocoa. Medelgympa is the kind of gympa that encourages laziness. It’s gympa deluxe.

Medelgympa is both a performing arts event and a session of gympa. Wear clothing and shoes that you will be comfortable moving in. Medelgympa is suitable for people 13 and older, and is performed in Swedish and English.
Medelgympa is the result of an exploration of gympa as a bodily practice and social phenomenon. We are particularly interested in the kind of community that can take shape during a session of gympa. The collective rush. The gratitude. All the different bodies, ages, and tempos, sweating together to the sound of thumping bass and energizing instructions.

Medelgympa is our tribute to gympa, because we love it.
